"Zenburque" Oasis

Project type

Residential Oasis

Date

March 2026

Location

Albuquerque

Vital Soil Landscape designed a "Zenburque" Oasis inspired by traditional Japanese Zen garden elements featuring varied topography that thoughtfully accommodates both dog and human traffic in a water-wise, harmonious, and eco-conscious landscape. This multi-canopy system emphasizes native/climate-adapted plants delivering shade, wind break, pollinator attractants, insectaries, edible plants for humans and wildlife, while enhancing soil fertility. It's also designed to require low to medium active irrigation, embodying our commitment to conserving water as a precious resource.

All we need to live a good life lies about us. Sun, wind, people, buildings, stones, sea, birds and plants surround us. Cooperation with all these things brings harmony, opposition to them brings disaster and chaos.
- Bill Mollison, co-founder of the permaculture movement
